I’ve been taking part in an interesting, intense and at times disturbing discussion of the position of women in British science fiction, which some of you may find worth your while.

Thanks, Paul.
I’m curating a reading series at a local gallery (starting this November), and one of my aims has been to invite more women to read than men. And I’ve found that I have to work very hard to get women to agree to participate: usually I have to email them repeatedly, really force them to commit. Whereas with most guys I contact, they say yes right away, and that’s that.

Meanwhile, I think it’s always true that too many white men tend to win too many awards.
