My 17-month Old’s Favorite Song of 2009:
“Never Forget You” by The Noisettes
he gets very excited when I put the video on for him, so I will put it on for you, too:
your kid has good taste! kinda diana ross-y. i have been lame re: music this year and haven’t heard most of the others (though you can’t go wrong with Wilco, Decemberists and Morrissey), but i just checked five cds out at the library and was underwhelmed (and a tad annoyed) by the flaming lips’ album. gave up on it and was digging leonard cohen when it refused to go further as it was taped together. stupid cd. stupid person who taped it together.
(good post, though i wish you had provided links for songs …)
yeah, he’s a music lover for sure, it’s a lot of fun. he and i listen to a lot of music and watch a lot of music dvds, etc.
the flaming lips are generally a love it or hate it kind of band. the new one was a lot different than anything else they’ve done, but i loved it. and their new itunes exclusive cover of the whole Dark Side of the Moon album is pretty awesome as well.
re: links, i’m lucky i got this post up at all what with the last minute shoppers all up in my grill. thankfully i know you know how to use google ;)
The Noisettes are fun. They are like Diana Ross if Diana Ross fronted a new wave band.
“Saturday Night” (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HUXeMTOsnpg) was my favorite song on that album, particularly the ways she sings, “Put up with your shenanigans.” I’m a big fan of the word, “shenanigans.”
i think it’s that fifties style bass line that drives me wild with “Never Forget You” but the whole album is fantastic!
and shenanigans is a great word… there’s a bar in this area named that
There you go, had to have some Morrissey. If you can go to his Swords show, he is playing Carol.
However, this may suffice …
haha!
i’d love to see him live, but i don’t think it’s going to happen any time soon. i’ve heard bad things about Swords, but i still kinda want it.
