February’s Big Other Book Club – Mary Caponegro

This month we will be reading The Complexities of Intimacy by Mary Caponegro. It’s a book of 4 short stories and a novella. I will be posting on each story. Let’s try to do the first three short stories in the next ten days. The 120-page novella we can examine in the second half of this month. A wonderful resource is her Bookworm interview about this book.

      1. For sure, I just want to get it on the quicker side. I usually do Powell’s, but I feel like I usually get their stuff on the 10 side of 7-10 business days, and I want to be able to get the first part read by the middle of the month.

  1. Looking forward to this one. Greg, if you still want some sort of discussion-wrangler, I’m willing to give it a try.

  2. Caponegro’s one of my favorite authors, and I’m very excited to have another reason to return to her work. I reread “The Daughter’s Lamentation” on the subway tonight as I made my way to Bradford Morrow’s reading at the Strand, and I was, once again, stunned by her stunning command, reminding me that stories can do so much more than telling about how this followed that.
