Domestic Fridays: Fall Casseroles

The Kitchn blog posted about these fancy casserole dishes today, and that made me Google “casseroles,” which turned up some interesting results.

Apparently there are all kinds of casseroles: Noodle, Potato, Rice, Tuna, Beef, Breafast, Broccoli, Chicken, Corn, Green Bean, Pork, Seafood, Spinach, Squash, Sweet Potato, Vegetarian, Lamb, Meatball, and lots more.

What I was hoping . . . was maybe some of you would kindly post your favorite casserole recipes in the comments here. Please?

  1. Hey Molly,

Besides reminding me that I’ve yet to eat breakfast or lunch, your post reminds me that I have to pick up something by M.F.K. Fisher, renowned for her lyrical books on food and cooking, and other topics.

  2. And don’t forget these casseroles: “apple plum, carpet steak, seed clam, colored wine, calm seen, cold cream, best shake, potato, potato and no no gold work with pet, a green seen is called bake and change sweet is bready, a little piece a little piece please.”

And I’ve long been fond of this particularly pleasant piece of cooking:

    “A Shining Breakfast Casserole”

Seat a knife near a cage and very near a decision and more nearly a timely working cat and scissors. Do this temporarily and make no more mistake in standing. Spread it all and arrange the white place, does this show in the house, does it not show in the green that is not necessary for that color, does it not even show in the explanation and singularly not at all stationary. Put it in the stew, put it to shame. A little slight shadow and a solid fine furnace. One, two and one, two, nine, second and five and that. Suppose there is a pigeon, suppose there is.
