A Night of Words and Music with Big Other: June 14, 2010

Big Other’s extravaganza will be taking place with games, prizes, raffles, music and readings. Mary Caponegro will be the headliner.

Music by John Madera and Robert Lopez (yes, that Robert Lopez).

Readings by A D Jameson, John Dermot Woods, Shya Scanlon, Edward Mullany, John Madera, Greg Gerke, and Nicolle Elizabeth.

Mary Caponegro is the author of the short story collections Tales from the Next Village, The Star Cafe, Five Doubts, The Complexities of Intimacy, and All Fall Down. She is the Richard B. Fisher Family Professor of Writing and Literature at Bard College. William H. Gass said of her work, “The music of Mary Caponegro’s stories is to the mouth what wine is. Readers will find themselves lost among answers, intoxicated, knowing only that these are stories unlike any others before or since, which is, for this reader at least, a relief, a challenge, and a godsend.”

  1. Ha! Yes, it’ll be that John Madera, I mean, this John Madera. (Actually, most of this post was a cut-and-paste job from Greg Gerke’s (yes, that Greg Gerke) Facebook post, so I can’t take credit for the special emphasis)

    1. Hi Caroline,

I just spoke to someone on the phone from the venue and they said they make exceptions for readings. If you come and have a problem, ask for me and I’ll swoop down and rescue you.
