Big Other presents: John Haskell, Jamie Iredell, and John Madera reading, with a Q/A to follow and wine to be served! We are celebrating these three wonderful writers and the release of Jamie’s new book (previewed here, by J.A. Tyler).
John Haskell is the author of a short-story collection, I AM NOT JACKSON POLLOCK (FSG, 2003) and the novels, AMERICAN PURGATORIO (FSG, 2005) and OUT OF MY SKIN (FSG, 2009). His stories and essays have appeared on the radio (The Next Big Thing, Studio 360), in books (The Show You’ll Never Forget, Heavy Rotation), and… in magazines (A Public Space, n+1, Conjunctions, and McSweeney’s). He was recently awarded a NYFA grant, and a 2009 Guggenheim award. He’s taught writing and literature at Columbia, Cal Arts, and the University of Leipzig.
Jamie Iredell lives in Atlanta. He wrote Prose. Poems. a Novel., and The Book of Freaks.
John Madera edits the forum Big Other. He is published widely; and his work has recently appeared in Conjunctions, The Believer, Opium Magazine, The Brooklyn Rail, Rain Taxi: Review of Books, and The Review of Contemporary Fiction.
John Haskell is a 2010 Artist Fellowship recipient of the New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA). This presentation is co-sponsored by Artists & Audiences Exchange, a NYFA public program, funded with support from the New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA).
