I’d just finished my review of it and did not want talk about it, that is, write about it in a public venue until my review was published somewhere. But of course I couldn’t resist. Rose Alley is a major accomplishment. And I have to talk about it.

I’m happy to see that though we reached some of the same conclusions, namely, that this is one of 2009′s finest books, and that Davies is both a masterful stylist and consummate storyteller, or rather stories teller, who is as inventive as he is hilarious, we also did not choose to talk about the same passages.

Now I have to decide where I’m going to send the review.

I like longer form episodic writing quite a bit. Ken Sparling does this well. As does Tom Drury.
