I saw this just now, making rounds of the various blogs I try to frequent. I thought about posting it as a comment to Molly’s post about Poe, but thought it deserved as many viewers as possible, so check out this blogpost about some great illustrations from an old edition of Poe’s work.

Holy Cow, that’s amazing. I love Journey Round My Skull – that blog is like a swipe book and bible for me.
Cool. The illustrations remind me big time of Giorgio de Chirico’s work like “Piazza d’Italia,” “The Uncertainty of the Poet,” “L’Enigma di Una Giornata.” It’s the starkness, the shadows, the classical architecture, you know?
A Journey Round My Skull is brilliant.
wow, that was some amazing stuff. Another RSS feed for sure.

check out this earlier Poe-oriented post from the same site: http://ajourneyroundmyskull.blogspot.com/2009/05/harry-clarke-illustrations-for-e-poe.html
Thanks, Alan! I had totally forgotten about that post. I love the boat one, especially.
